Originated from a project by Damiano Michieletto for his artistic direction at the Caracalla Festival 2025, Lasso’s diffractions consists of three electroacoustic interludes interwoven with a selection of madrigals from Orlando di Lasso’s “Lagrime di San Pietro.”
It was first performed at the Basilica di Massenzio on June 29, 2025 (the day dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul) in a performance that featured me on stage playing electronics in constant dialogue with the Errar Cantando choir performing the original madrigals.
This was followed by a lecture by theologian Vito Mancuso.
Lasso’s Diffractions was commissioned by the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.
The duration of the electronic interludes is about 10 minutes while the duration of the entire concert is 30 minutes.
